This one works really good.
Very sharp picture. It's good for playing video games or watching movies.
Only complain is that you don't want to trust on these speakers. They are good if you use your PC to write documents, chat, etc. If you want to play video-games, watch movies, or watch youtube videos; these might not be enought so you'll need a new pair of speakers.

          I needed an inexpensive monitor to use with my netbook at home. Did not want to toggle with the high-end IPS monitor that I use with my tower. This ASUS met all my requirements (size, price, etc.) ... and when I actually fired it up was amazed at the display quality.
          The LED backlighting makes a tremendous amount of difference. While super bright (can be adjusted down), it is still soft on the eyes.
          The quality of the resolution (at any setting) is actually extraordinary. I had purchased another monitor for this purpose from a local electronics store (which actually cost more than this one), but the quality was atrocious so had to return it.
          This monitor I think would be excellent at any work station, and can be viewed comfortably for long periods (I have very sensitive eyes). The colors are gorgeous!, compared with any monitor type. The screen size seems larger than it is, and is excellent for work (word processing, etc.) or play (games, movies, etc.).
          It tilt adjusts nicely, controls are easy to understand and use, and has a solid build feel with a stable base. In this price range one cannot expect it to have a height adjustment, too, so I've elevated it about 1" and it's perfect.
          Did not expect it to be this good, so as the title of this review says, I was very pleasantly surprised. It's my first ASUS product, and now will be open to purchasing ASUS products in the future.

ASUS VS248H-P 24-Inch Monitor Review

          Bought this as an upgrade for my old Samsung 2243bwx 22" monitor. Although that monitor was only a 3-4 years old, the technology now is leaps and bounds better than what is was a few years back. Got this ASUS VS248H-P in the mail today and noticed a huge difference immediately. The Samsung had a DCR of 8000:1, and the ASUS has 50000000:1!!! The blacks are blacker and the bright colors jump out at you. Keep in mind that I'm not an expert in displays and haven't really experienced a newer monitor for any long duration of time, so this review is kind of biased on the point of my ignorance & unfamiliarity. It's also biased on the fact that I've been a big fan of ASUS. I have personally had great experience with them and have been more and more impressed with their products over the years. They have really stepped up their game recently. So if you're not looking to make the jump to a 27-30" monitor, want to spend under $200 ($195 from Amazon), want a breathtaking display and have various display ports...then do yourself a favor and get this, you won't regret it at all!

ASUS PA238Q 23-Inch Monitor Review

          I've had two of these monitors for a little over a week, and it's everything I was looking for. The color accuracy is practically flawless in sRGB mode. I bought this mainly because it was claimed to cover the full sRGB gamut, and after my calibration/testing, I found this to be true to claim. I here I thought that "individual calibration" sheet in the box was just marketing. My previous sRGB IPS panels covered about 87-90% at best, and uniformity was hit or miss. I would have preferred a CCFL backlight like it's big brother, but the thinness and power/heat savings of the LED panel does have it's benefits. The fit and finish of the monitor is extremely high, and very professional (absolutely love the quick fit feature when working in Lightroom).
          The screen coating is minimal as well. Don't worry about the "low" spec'd brightness either, it is not a problem. I personally could care less about off angle viewing, as I don't do it, but it is as one would come to expect from any IPS panel (that is to say, great). The response time is fast enough for games as well, though some can give it a work out. I also really appreciated that they give you every input cable it accepts (minus hdmi). Asus is taking their Pro Art line very seriously it appears, and that's just one more reason I love their products.
          This sRGB IPS monitor is in rare company, and definitely deserves serious consideration in this price/size range.

LED lighting - the challenge

          The light sources based on LED technology is now available for many years. Their long life and durability are just two of the reasons that make them predestined to an almost limitless number of applications in our daily lives.
         
          However, today's LEDs are not suitable for applications to control the color. The spectrum of white LEDs is very fragmented, and this is the reason why the color rendering properties are insufficient to control the specific application of color matching. Leads to a fragmented spectrum Questro color rendering index (CRI) far below the required value of 90.

          Today there are several direct approaches to simulate the spectrum of daylight based on RGB technology with LED red, green and blue, which in theory is possible. The natural daylight is characterized by a very uniform spectral distrbuzione potential of 380 to 780nm with a UV content.
         
          Although the LED lights do not cover a certain range but produce a peak corresponding to a specific wavelength by combining the RGB color LEDs can produce white light and all shades of color. However, since the power spectral distribution is very fragmented, consisting of three peaks of specific wavelengths (Figure 1), the color rendering properties are very limited.

I have zero complaints about this monitor. The image is crisp and clear, and the brightness is excellent. I did not have to adjust anything, it just looked good right out of the box.

Passed all of the monitor tests, differentiating blacks against blacks and whites against whites, as well as the contrast test with the tightly packed white and black stripes. No dead pixels, and excellent color. Monitor is plenty big and the bezels are reasonably small. However the one I ordered did have a slightly loose hdmi cable, it was fine for hours then screen went black, had to hold the hdmi cable in for the video to show. I think I could have fixed it myself but didnt want to void warranty, anyway Amazon is excellent with replacements, pays for the shipping back and also sends out a replacement before you even send your broken one back. I'm down for the weekend, which sucks because it's also labor day weekend right now, but Having a replacement as soon as tuesday is still impressive.

Anyway, even though I had a mis-hap, I'd still strongly reccomend this monitor, makes my macbook pro monitor look dull in comparison.

ASUS MS228H 21.5-Inch LED Monitor Review

It's a great monitor for a very good price. Actually, it's detected as a DTV by Intel HD Graphics. It's lightweight and has a brilliant screen. The small power adapter is a nice touch.

A few things to keep in mind. The "stand" sits best at a slight angle. Because of the way the monitor is built, you lose the "storage" space under your monitor. The controls are all touch operated and can be a bit annoying to fiddle with. Has VGA, HDMI, and HDMI to DVI cable for the inputs.

I also have the MS238H and I can't really tell the difference except for the sizes. I had the scaling issue for the MS238H with the 5670, i.e., you may get a black border with a shrunken screen. If you have an ATI video card, you may have a scaling issue with this one as well (haven't checked since I'm using i3 540 for this one. see the reviews for the other similar monitors).

          So the picture isn't PERFECT, I can see a little color bleed around the edges. But I'm using it on my 10 year old's first PC, and she loves it. She loves not needing speakers hooked up, since this has them. They're pretty good little speakers, she falls asleep listening to internet radio channels.

The image quality is not as perfect as my HP LP2475w that has IPS matrix (costs 3 times more), BUT it is so much better than my other Dell that I purchased a month earlier for 290.00

I use it with my Macbook pro, I did some color correction. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

You will not find a 24" monitor of the same picture quality for the same or cheaper price.

Good size, well put together, rock solid, fast response time, good contrast ratio, wish it had HDMI but I knew that coming in. No problem with DVI-D, cables are high quality and long enough. Buttons are nice, picture quality is nice, there is a lot to rave about this monitor.

Now the downsides: I hear a good number of people complain about the stand, saying it's too big, or seems like it'll tip because it's a round base, however, I find it very stable for the size and weight of the monitor itself (monitor is pretty light, base is like stone, as it should be). I've never even tried the speakers, dunno why you'd give a two star rating for such a superb monitor. You did buy a monitor, not a set of speakers, right? Anyway, for the price, I'm surprised they even shoved in speakers.

          This display has a very high contrast ratio and good resolution. The stand is stable and easy to adjust. I like the Splendid feature because it remembers your settings. You can set it to Night mode and turn the brightness all the way down and will keep that setting next time you go to it. Asus has the best warranty. Their Rapid Replacement service will send you a new display and pay return shipping for the old one. They will even send the replacement before you send the old one if you give your credit card. The display is covered for three years. My local electric company (National Grid) is also offering a $20 rebate on Energy Star monitors, so I got this one for $90 from Amazon.

I have zero complaints about this monitor. The image is crisp and clear, and the brightness is excellent. I did not have to adjust anything, it just looked good right out of the box.

Even though Asus does not provide a monitor profile (or driver) for this monitor, I did not experience any issues with Windows 7 not filling the screen like one previous reviewer. I also have not detected any of the "back light bleed" that another reviewer mentioned.

The unique style of this monitor looks great on my desk. I have read some other reviews on other sites that criticized the stand as being "flimsy" or "shaky" and also as difficult to assemble. My own experience was completely opposite. The stand is constructed on sturdy metal - not plastic. I found it easy to assemble without any tools. The monitor is not unstable or shaky in the least. The stand allows the monitor to easily swivel and tilt to your preferred angle.

- Wobbly (requires sturdy desk)

- Can see through plastic below monitor to grid pattern when light hits it right

          I bought this monitor to replace an aging 20+ year old 18" Sony CRT monitor that was still going strong (anyone want a great deal on a Sony monitor?). This LED monitor fit the bill and it is light years ahead on the stand compared to the MS238h that my son bought just a few weeks ago. The stand on the MS238H monitor is the only thing people complained about on the reviews and Asus must have listened and fixed it. This new stand (ML238H) is well built and doesn't even require a screw driver! I had this monitor up and running in less than 10 minutes. This monitor is amazing as the specs indicate and I couldn't be happier. 10,000,000/1 ratio dynamic ratio with a 2ms response timing you cannot beat for this for the price and the only spec I was concerned about was the brightness spec of 250 cd/m2 as the Samsung monitors are 300 cd/m2. I am happy to report that at 76% brightness setting I don't need all that extra brightness the more expensive Samsung monitors can produce. Just got it a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm very happy with it. The screen is bright and beautiful (LED technology) and it comes with an HDMI connection. And all the specs are good.

As always, the built-in speakers are completely useless - sound like crap (I still don't get why they even bother putting it in). I gotta say the vertical viewing angle is not the greatest (looking up at the screen is slightly darker...looking down at it brighter). But then again it's very much a standard for monitors in this price range.

In the end, there's one thing you have to keep in mind: while it's probably one of the very best monitors you can get for under $200 (if not THE)...it's not exactly the best monitor money can buy. Having done my research, the ones starting $400-$500 range are basically in a different ballpark. So you pretty much get what you pay for. And in this case, for this price, you get PLENTY...in fact WAY MORE than you ever could before. So if you're cool with not having "the best" for now...and need a good monitor for cheap - this is the one. For sure.

I've been shopping around for a new monitor for quite some time. I always do my research before making a purchase, and it was no different with this monitor.

Having been a past ASUS component owner who is impressed with the quality and innovation in their products, I ended up searching around for quite a while only to come back to them.

          I was so disappointed by the high input lag of most modern day lcd hdtv's that I went ahead and began researching LCD computer monitors. I wanted something to hook my xbox 360/ps3 up to, as well as a Western Digital Live media player for 1080p blurays. This monitor handles them all perfectly and I am very impressed by the quality and pop for a computer monitor. Asus has done a nice job and the LED backlighting is excellent. I do not notice any flashlighting or light bleeding around the edges. I use the stock "theater mode" for xbox 360/blurays and standard mode for my computer. Games are handled very well, details come out and there is definitely a "pop" factor. Lag is no issue at all and I was able to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 online and do alright. I also tested Dragon Age 2 for 360 and that ran well via the 360 vga cable I ordered from monoprice. Please note that you will need an audio adapter cable (female composite audio to female audio head jack) if you want to hook your computer speakers up..after all the speakers on the monitor are weak like everybody else says. Very good monitor that handles motion extremely well. Movies run smooth, games run smooth without any blurring or hiccups. I am glad I went with this ASUS, my first but not my last.
