LED lighting - the challenge

          The light sources based on LED technology is now available for many years. Their long life and durability are just two of the reasons that make them predestined to an almost limitless number of applications in our daily lives.
         
          However, today's LEDs are not suitable for applications to control the color. The spectrum of white LEDs is very fragmented, and this is the reason why the color rendering properties are insufficient to control the specific application of color matching. Leads to a fragmented spectrum Questro color rendering index (CRI) far below the required value of 90.

          Today there are several direct approaches to simulate the spectrum of daylight based on RGB technology with LED red, green and blue, which in theory is possible. The natural daylight is characterized by a very uniform spectral distrbuzione potential of 380 to 780nm with a UV content.
         
          Although the LED lights do not cover a certain range but produce a peak corresponding to a specific wavelength by combining the RGB color LEDs can produce white light and all shades of color. However, since the power spectral distribution is very fragmented, consisting of three peaks of specific wavelengths (Figure 1), the color rendering properties are very limited.
